Accuquilt Cutter
We will be bringing our Accuquilt cutter and all the templates that go with it!
Bring your fabric to cut up into 2 1/2" strips, 5" squares, and much more! Have your fabric cut into 15" strips to make cutting go faster. We can cut up to 10 layers of fabric at a time. Also bring a pair of sharp scissors to cut some strings the cutter may have missed. If you plan on cutting a lot of different things, bring baggies to sort them into. You can go to accquilt.com and look at the bread and butter set that we will be bringing to see if there is a certain block you would like to cut. Example Saw tooth star.
Kathryn Rister is also bringing her cutting system. She has rag quilt squares, letters, and much more. Get ready to cut and have fun!
August 10
Square In A Square
Janie Alonzo will be here to demonstrate the Square in a Square technique using tools developed by Jodie Barrows. Some of you may have done this before so this would be a great time to reacquaint yourselves with Square in a Square...you may have bought the tools and never used them; now would be a great time to get them out! For those of you who don't know Square in a Square this will be a treat! Learn how to make flying geese, saw tooth stars, and other blocks.
September 14
The kids are finally back to school! The first six weeks is usually a review of what they have forgotten over the summer months. I thought it would be a good idea to review too! One of the most asked questions at a class or sewing with friend is "How big do I need to cut this square to get a half-square triangle?" Well...do you know? To me the half square triangle is the original "One Block Wonder". There are many ways to make it and I will show you what I know and have a hand out to take home with you. For some of you this may be new information, for others - a review. Think of the way you make it and share with the group if I didn't talk about it. Unlike my 10 (yes 10!) year old, I don't know everything! I hope you enjoy the program.
October 12
Ugly Betty … part 1
We all have that one piece of fabric in our stash, you know the one! You pass it up time and time again for projects, quilts, and tote bags. " Why did I buy this?" you ask yourself. "Who slipped this into my stash?! I never would havepurchased this... it must have been on sale." We all try to justify the "Ugly Betty" in our stash. Now is your time to pass it on.
Bring Ugly Betty to the October meeting in a paper bag. Make sure you can't see through the bag and that it is taped or stapled shut...we can't handle all that ugly at once! Put your name inside the bag...she may come back to haunt you.
We will pass the bags around to get them to their new owner. You may want to put some kind of mark on the bottom of the bag to make sure you don't get your own back...remember you want to get rid of it. Ugly Betty needs to measure at least 1/2 yard, be good quality, and 100% cotton. Keep Ugly Betty a secret! She is just for you! Don't tell whose you got. Part 2 will be revealed at the meeting.
